Vila Vita Parc vs Pine Cliffs: which one suits you?

Algarve › Porches and Albufeira

Two of the Algarve’s best-known clifftop resorts. Vila Vita Parc near Porches is a garden estate opened in 1992, known above all for its food, including two-MICHELIN-star Ocean. Pine Cliffs Hotel, part of the larger Pine Cliffs Resort near Albufeira, sits above Praia da Falésia with a lift to the beach, a 9-hole golf course and a big kids’ club. Choose by what matters most: dining and calm, or beach, golf and family fun.

Vila Vita Parc: a food lover’s garden estate

Vila Vita Parc opened in 1992, founded by Dr Reinfried and Anneliese Pohl on a clifftop near the village of Porches. Its 203 rooms, suites and villas are spread through about 22 hectares of subtropical gardens, with whitewashed buildings, seven pools and steps down to the beach.

Food is its signature. Ocean, led by Austrian chef Hans Neuner, won its first MICHELIN star in 2009 and its second in 2011, and there are many more restaurants, from Atlântico to the Aladin Grill. A wine cellar eight metres underground holds more than 11,000 bottles, and the VILA VITA Spa by Sisley Paris opened in 2018.

It stands closest to the sea, on the red cliffs above Praia da Falésia, and its 217 rooms and suites all have furnished balconies with resort, garden or sea views.

A panoramic lift and a wooden path lead down to the beach and its club. Back on top there is a 9-hole golf course with a golf academy, tennis, indoor and outdoor pools and the Serenity Spa. Children have Porto Pirata, a kids’ village with life-size pirate ships, for ages 1 to 8.
