The story
Pine Cliffs Resort covers about 72 hectares of pine forest and gardens on the red cliffs east of Albufeira. It holds several places to stay, and Pine Cliffs Hotel, once known as the Sheraton Algarve, is the one closest to the sea.
Below it runs Praia da Falésia, the long golden beach famous for its amber and red sandstone cliffs. A panoramic lift and a wooden path between the cliffs take guests down to the sand and the beach restaurant.
Today the hotel is part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection. Its 217 rooms are decorated with Moorish touches and hand-painted tiles, and the resort around it has grown into a full holiday village with golf, tennis, a large spa and a kids’ club.
