The story
Hotel Formentor opened in 1929 on the wild Formentor peninsula in the far north of Mallorca, between pine woods and a long strip of pale sand. Over the decades it became one of the island’s legendary addresses, welcoming guests such as Winston Churchill, Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn.
After more than 90 years, the hotel closed for a full restoration and modernisation. It reopened in August 2024 as Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor, keeping its historic spirit while adding new dining, wellness and outdoor experiences.
The resort sits on a 40-hectare private estate that includes a working vineyard. Its 110 rooms and suites all have sea-facing terraces, and for the 2026 season it reopened on 18 March with new wellness programmes.
